American Numismatic Society, 167‑year‑old institution, on June 22 opened sales for a new commemorative medal marking the United States' 250th anniversary. The medal, titled Pursuit of Happiness Through Enterprise, was designed and sculpted by New York medallist and sculptor Chris Kunk, an Artistic Fellow at the Newington‑Cropsey Foundation. Kunk’s obverse shows an allegorical Time holding a gear, set against a clock fixed at 2:50 to echo the anniversary year, while the reverse features three horses symbolizing the unbridled spirit of American progress.

The medal is offered in two sizes—2‑inch (50.8 mm) and 3‑inch (76.2 mm)—and in bronze or silver. Production is handled by Medalcraft Mint, with delivery targeted for October. Each type has a limited run of 250 pieces, except the 2‑inch bronze, which has no cap. Prices start at $45 for the small bronze, $125 for the large bronze, $500 for the small silver (plus a $1,000 donation to ANS’s fundraising campaign), and $2,000 for the large silver (plus a $5,000 donation).

ANS members receive priority, and all orders are first‑come, first‑served. The sale closes on August 4, with a 10 % discount for orders placed before July 4. Interested collectors can place orders by emailing medals@numismatics.org or visiting the ANS website for pricing details. The medal not only commemorates a national milestone but also supports the society’s relocation from New York City to Toledo, Ohio.
